Take beauty into your own hands

Blend It Raw Apothecary began in 2017 with the idea of providing people with organic ingredients taken from the nature in their purest form and to guide people in making their own skin and hair care products. All these products promote the idea of creating spa at home and pampering your skin with organic products offered by nature. You can either use products directly or whip them up with a product of your choice. All you need is to have fun while taking care of your body and just DO-IT-YOURSELF! Blend It Raw Apothecary strives to be your go-to store for authentic, clean, and pure ingredients.

Founder of Blend It Raw Apothecary Aarushi, 21-year old entrepreneur and writer obsessed with smoothie bowls, coconuts, spas, face masks, making skincare, chasin’ sunsets and dreams. She saysI have always believed that beauty treatments should stem from the purest form of nature. After extensive research, I found out that a majority of hydrosols, essential oils, butters and carrier oils offered by suppliers in India or online sellers were either processed or diluted or they were not affordable. From frustration grew my first business – Blend It Raw Apothecary.”

I spent nearly two years working on this venture & sourcing the ingredients without having any business background & any strong source of investment. This has been the toughest phase of my life as I was spending all of my savings travelling to places in search of ingredients. Since I was just 19 when I began collaborating with farmers, I was never taken seriously because of my age and how shy I looked. Post launch, I faced challenges in terms of managing my time. I had to manage my college, my language course, my business and my blog simultaneously because my parents still wanted me to have a well paid 9-5 job. Being the sole person handling the brand, I had to wear many hats which took a toll on my health in the first year. I was sourcing ingredients, designing labels, clicking pictures, promoting, listing products, packing orders, interacting with customers, all by myself shared Aarushi.

She is an Economics graduate from Delhi University. To be able to have the best knowledge and educate people more about skin and hair care, She enrolled herself in Organic Skincare Formulation Course this year. She also write a Natural lifestyle & Wellness Journal glitternaturally.com.

Aarushi is focusing on bringing out many more DIY Skin & Hair Care kits with easy to make recipes. Along with that, She is working on supplying quality ingredients to many kitchen brands in India and also polishing her formulation skills. She is planning to go zero/minimum waste for their brand. Hence, Aarushi converting plastic jars for herbs to paper packaging in 2019. Rest of their products are already in glass packaging.

Aarushi’s advice for budding entrepreneurs.

  • Knowledge is your superpower. Don’t start anything just because it’s trendy or someone else is making great money out of it. Realize your passion and polish your skills.
  • Patience is the key. You may not receive any orders in the first few months. Things may go wrong. Your customer may not like your product. Keep hustling. Hardwork definitely pays you back. In the meanwhile, do keep an alternate source of income.
  • Don’t fear wearing many hats or taking risks. I have heard many people seeing that ohh it’s a lot of work. Understand that you can’t make money if you don’t hustle. Especially, for a startup- be ready to work day and night & take risks. Set out to do something big. Put your best foot forward.
  • Don’t depend on anyone. You are enough. NOBODY helped me, trust me!
